The RS5 is Audi's shot across the bow of the BMW M4 and the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, as well as the Lexus RC F. It's Audi's compact sports coupe, but it comes in convertible Cabriolet form as well. It's a little down on power compared to its rivals, but it's also cheaper and has the benefit of all-wheel drive, with Audi's Quattro system helping to keep the fun going in the wet or over a long Canadian winter. The RS5 was all-new for 2013, so moves in to 2014 unchanged
The RS5 gets audi's 4.2L V8 making 450 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. It spins all the way to 8,250 rpm and routes the power through a seven speed dual-clutch transmission. The rear end gets an Audi sport differential, which applies power to the outside rear wheel to help the car rotate and power out of turns.
The RS5 coupe and cabriolet come in a single trim that includes 19-inch wheels, panoramic sunroof, automatic headlights and wipers, Bluetooth, a leather three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, Audi drive select, heated and powered leather front sport seats with lumbar and driver memory, three-zone climate control, colour driver information system display, trunk pass-through, dynamic variable ratio steering, adaptive Xenon headlights, front and rear park assist, LED DRLs and taillights, intelligent keyless entry, Homelink and blind spot alert.
The RS5 is rated to return 15.3 L/100 km city, 10.9 L/100 km highway. The cabrio will get 15.2/11.3.
