History/Overview
Introduced in 2019, the Audi Q8 is the brand’s top SUV model, a five-seater that’s smaller than the three-row Q7 but positioned as the premium of the two vehicles.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2023 -- the Q8’s fifth model year -- the changes are once again minor: the base trim gains standard LED matrix headlights and dynamic taillights, along with leatherette dash and door trim. Meanwhile, the uplevel trim gets a real leather dash, and adds remote park assist to the Q8’s driver assist suite.
Available Trims
Audi offers the Q8 in Progressiv and Technik trim levels. Both use a 3.0L turbo V6, an eight-speed transmission, and AWD.
Standard Features
Progressiv trim comes with 21-inch wheels, adaptive suspension, auto-dimming/power-folding side mirrors, matrix LED headlights with washers, a panoramic roof, and passive keyless entry. Inside, there’s four-zone A/C, heated/ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and steering wheel, digital gauges, leather upholstery, and an auto-dimming mirror. Infotainment functions go through a 10.1-inch touchscreen with navigation, wireless phone integration and wireless phone charging.
Finally, Progressiv models come with a suite of safety features comprising top-view cameras, forward and reverse collision mitigation, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams.
Technik’s key additions include air suspension, puddle lights, power door closers, rear door sunshades, real leather dash trim, a head-up display, and a B&O stereo. Technik also brings remote park assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assistance, active lane departure alert, and loose wheel detection.
Key Options
Technik’s extra driver assists are available in a Progressiv driver assistance pack; Progressiv can also be equipped with air suspension.
To Technik, you can add massaging front seats with memory, and an air quality system.
Fuel Economy
Audi’s fuel consumption estimates for the Q8 are 12.8/10.4 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
The Audi Q8 is lined up against other sporty, posh SUVs like the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, the Mercedes-Benz GLE and GLE Coupe, BMW X5 and X6, and the Porsche Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe.
