History/Overview
Audi tends to leave well enough alone when it comes to its vehicles’ designs, which is why the Q7 mid-size SUV has changed so little since its mid-2000s introduction. The current second-gen Q7 was introduced in 2017 and updated in 2020.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
This year, the Q7 gets a new base engine, an upgraded 2.0L turbo four-cylinder whose 261 hp is 13 more than last year’s four-banger. There are also a few new standard features in some trim levels.
Available Trims
Audi offers the Q7 in Komfort, Progressiv, and Technik trims. Komfort starts out with a “45” designation that refers to the 2.0L engine and its mild hybrid assist system; optional in Komfort and standard elsewhere is a 3.0L turbo mild hybrid V6, which uses a 55 designation. Any way you order a Q7, you get an eight-speed transmission and AWD.
Standard Features
New to this year’s Komfort 45 model is leatherette dash trim, auto-dimming/power-folding side mirrors, upgraded interior lighting, and a music interface. Other standard kit includes 20-inch wheels, auto on/off LED headlights, a panoramic roof, passive keyless entry, and rain-sensing wipers. Inside, you get heated/power front seats, three-zone A/C, a heated steering wheel with electric adjustments, leather upholstery, and an auto-dimming interior mirror. The Q7’s infotainment system consists of a 10.1-inch display, wireless Apple CarPlay, navigation, digital gauges, and wireless phone charging.
The Q7’s standard safety features are forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, exit warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and an alarm system.
Komfort 55 adds matrix LED headlights with high beam assist.
Progressiv trim brings 21-inch wheels, four-zone A/C, heated rear/ventilated front seats, rear collision mitigation, surround-view cameras, and, new this year, leatherette dash and armrest trim.
Q7 Technik gets headlight washers, air suspension, puddle lights, power door closers, rear door sunshades, a new-for-2023 leather-trimmed dash, Bang & Olufsen audio, head-up display, remote park assist (new for 2023), active cruise control and lane departure warning, intersection and traffic jam assistants, and adaptive wet-arm wipers.
Key Options
A luxury package adds massaging front seats, valcona/cricket leather, and an air quality system.
Progressiv offers a dynamic package of air suspension and four-wheel steering. A driver assistance pack for Komfort and Progressiv bundles adaptive cruise and other safety aids.
Fuel Economy
Audi’s fuel consumption estimates for the Q7 are 12.2/9.5 L/100 km (city/highway) for 2.0L models, and 12.9/10.9 L/100 km for 3.0L V6 versions.
Competition
The Q7’s competitors include the Cadillac XT6, Volvo XC90, BMW X7, Acura MDX, Mercedes-Benz GLS, Infiniti QX60, Lincoln Aviator, and Lexus RX-L.
