The Audi Q7 is the automaker's biggest crossover. The three-row option for buyers who need maximum space from their German luxury SUV. It underwent a significant remodel for 2020, updating the second-generation Q7 that was introduced in 2015.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
After an extensive refresh inside and out for 2020, Audi is making few changes for 2021. The changes this year include lane departure warning standard on all models, and on 55-series Q7 there are new trimmings for the upper dashboard.
Available Trims
Audi offers the Q7 with two engine choices, both with quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic. The first, badged Q7 45 TFSI, sports a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder with 248 hp, is available in Komfort and Progressiv trims. The latter, badged 55 TFSI with a 3.0L V6 with a 48V mild-hybrid system and 335 hp, is offered in Komfort, Progressiv, and Technik trims.
Standard Features
The Komfort trim starts with 20-inch alloys and a panoramic sunroof, as well as privacy glass, LED self-leveling headlights, and LED tails. Inside, the seats are leather, with heating for the front. The steering wheel is also electrically warmed, and electrically adjustable. The infotainment screen is 10.1-inches with navigation and the dash offers Audi virtual cockpit plus digital display. Three-zone climate control with a charcoal filter is included, and the middle row of seats slide. Driver assistance features include Audi side assist, pre sense city, exit assist, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, camera and distance sensors, active cruise control, and indirect tire pressure monitoring.
Progressiv adds different wheels along with heated and power folding side mirrors, a pair of USB ports for the rear and four-zone climate control along with ventilated front and heated rear seats and ambient lighting. It also adds pre sense rear and top view with 360 camera.
Technik adds 21-inch wheels and HD Matrix LED lights as well as exterior light animations. There is an air suspension underneath, while inside are touch-sensitive interior buttons, a premium sound system, power door closers, head-up display, dual pane glass, and an upper dashboard with contrast stitching. And Audi phone box provides wireless charging and signal boost.
Key Options
A Driver Assistance package on Progressiv and Technik adds intersection, traffic jam, turn, emergency, and active cruise assist, along with sign recognition. Matrix design headlights are also offered as is an adaptive air suspension. Four-wheel steering is offered on Technik, as is a Luxury package that includes massaging contour seats with Valcona leather.
Fuel Economy
2021 Fuel economy figures aren't yet available, but with no major changes it should be close to the 12.4 L/100 km city, 10.1 highway for 45 and 13.8/11.4 of the 55 that the model offered last year.
Competition
The Audi Q7 competes with the Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7, Lincoln Navigator, and the Cadillac Escalade.
