History/Overview
Audi is still exploring what works and what won’t in the battery electric vehicle marketplace with its range of E-Tron models. Part of that experimentation is fielding two versions of its Q4 E-Tron, including this four-door, coupe-like Sportback model, which shares its platform with a traditional Q4 E-Tron SUV covered in a separate buyer’s guide entry.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
Like the Q4 E-Tron, the Sportback is a new model for 2022.
Available Trims
Audi offers the Q4 E-Tron Sportback in Progressiv and Technik trim levels. In both, an 82-kWh battery feeds two electric motors – one up front and the other at the rear – for AWD traction.
Standard Features
Among the Q4 E-Tron Sportback’s standard kit are 19-inch wheels, LED headlights/taillights, a power tailgate, auto-dimming/power-folding side mirrors, and passive keyless entry.
Inside, you get heated/power-adjustable front seats with lumbar, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone A/C, ambient lighting, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. A 10.1-inch touchscreen handles infotainment duties, while the driver gets a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster. Also included are navigation, satellite radio, and a smartphone interface.
The Q4’s standard safety package comprises forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and progressive steering.
Technik trim adds a heated windshield, upgraded LED headlights (with washers) and taillights, driver’s seat memory, a premium stereo, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control with active assist, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition.
Key Options
To Progressiv trim, an advanced driver assist pack brings adaptive cruise with active assist, automatic high beams, and traffic jam assist.
The Technik tech package adds an augmented-reality head-up display and Audi Connect Plus functionality.
Both trims can add an exterior black trim package.
Fuel Economy
Audi’s energy consumption estimates for the Q4 E-Tron Sportback are 2.4/2.6 Le/100 km (city/highway), and estimated driving range is 388 km on a full charge of the battery.
Competition
With the Q4, Audi is going up against a number of other upscale EV upstarts, like the BMW iX, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and Tesla Model Y.
