History/Overview
The Audi A8 L is an icon of Germany’s luxury car class, having provided an enticing combination of driving enjoyment and executive-style accommodations for decades.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
Audi refreshed the A8 L last year, so for 2023 it largely carries over save for the addition of a high-tech remote park assist system to the standard features list.
Available Trims
The A8 L comes in a single trim and rides on an extended-wheelbase platform, which is what the “L” in the car’s name refers to even though Audi no longer offers a standard-wheelbase configuration. Power is from a 3.0L turbocharged and mild hybrid V6 engine, an eight-speed transmission, and AWD.
Standard Features
Audi equips the A8 L with 19-inch wheels, air suspension, a panoramic roof, auto-dimming/power-folding side mirrors, LED headlights/taillights, rain-sensing wipers, passive keyless entry, power trunk operation, and power door closers. Inside, you’ll find heated seats all around, ventilated front seats with 18-way power adjustments, LED interior lighting, Valetta and Nappa leather, a heated steering wheel, and four-zone A/C.
The infotainment system contains navigation, voice control, satellite radio, a music interface, and a B&O stereo. The driver gets a digital gauge display, and there’s a wireless phone charging pad.
The A8 L’s safety kit includes top-view cameras, remote park assist, adaptive cruise control, active lane departure warning, intersection/traffic jam/turn/emergency assists, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, front and rear collision detection/mitigation, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
Key Options
An executive package adds a head-up display, 22-way front seats, power rear seats, and front and rear lumbar adjustments. To that you can add a luxury pack of extended leather, and sport seats with diamond pattern leather. A rear seat upgrade brings ventilation, heated armrests, and better LED reading lights.
There are also two matrix LED headlight options that both include dynamic turn signals and washers.
Fuel Economy
Audi’s fuel consumption estimates for the A8 L are 12.5/8.3 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
Shop the A8 L against the Genesis G90, BMW 7 Series, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
