Issue:
On certain vehicles, the occupant protection flap within the passenger-front airbag module may not have been folded properly. As a result, the airbag could inflate with too much force. If a child or smaller person is seated in the front passenger seat close to the instrument panel, they could be injured when the airbag inflates in a crash.
Safety Risk:
An airbag that inflates with too much force could create an increased risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Audi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the passenger-front airbag module.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the oil strainer for the turbocharger oil supply could get blocked. If this happens, a turbocharger could fail. This could cause loss of engine power and/or cause the engine to stall.
Note: This problem could cause different warning messages to display or the engine oil warning light to turn on.
Safety Risk:
A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Audi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the oil strainer for the turbocharger oil supply. The dealer will also inspect and document the performance of the boost pressure system and change the engine oil.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the fuel line to the high-pressure fuel pump could leak. This may cause a gasoline odour or leak.
Safety Risk:
Leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, creates the risk of a fire.
Corrective Actions:
The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer for repair. A fuel pressure damper will be installed in the low pressure fuel supply located inside the fuel tank.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, a small amount of fuel may leak from one or both fuel rails.
Safety Risk:
Leaking fuel in the presence of an ignition source could increase the risk of a fire.
Corrective Actions:
The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the left and right fuel rails replaced.
On certain vehicles, the fuel supply line for the high pressure fuel pump may become porous over time. This could cause a fuel smell or a fuel leak, which in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel line.
On certain vehicles, engine coolant could leak through a coolant valve connection. This could cause coolant to migrate into the engine control module, potentially resulting in an electrical short and an engine stall. This would result in a loss of motive power, which could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the coolant valve, inspect for coolant migration and repair as necessary.
On certain vehicles, the glass panel of the sunroof may not have been properly bonded to the sunroof frame. This could allow the glass panel to separate from the vehicle while driving, creating a road hazard which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will apply additional adhesive between the sunroof frame and glass panel.
On certain vehicle the sunroof may have been manufactured incorrectly and could be susceptible to breakage. Sunroof glass panel breakage, while the vehicle is in motion, could cause driver distraction, which could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Additionally, broken glass inside the vehicle could pose a risk of injury to vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealers will replace the sunroof glass panel.
On certain vehicles equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission, a locking cable may move out of position over time. With the locking cable out of position, the shifter can be moved out of the PARK position even if key is not in the ignition. This could allow the vehicle to roll and strike a person , object or vehicle without warning, causing personal injury. Correction: Dealers will modify the locking cable system.
On certain vehicles, in cases where a weak battery exists, it is possible that a low voltage condition could cause the airbag control unit to improperly set a fault code. If this occurs, the passenger-side frontal airbag will become deactivated and would not deploy during a frontal crash. As a result, a passenger-seat occupant could receive more severe injuries. Correction: Dealers will update the airbag control module software.
On certain vehicles the drivers frontal airbag may not inflate as designed, which could cause driver injuries in a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the driver airbag.
On certain vehicles, an improperly routed ground in the front passenger-side airbag and seat heater harness may cause signal interference. This can result in the deactivation of the passenger-side frontal airbag under circumstances when it should remain activated. If this condition occurs, the passenger-side frontal airbag would not deploy in the case of a frontal crash, possibly exposing the occupant to risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will modify the wiring harness.
Certain vehicles equipped with a fuel and vapor leak detection system. A "blind cover" at the filler neck of the fuel tank may not seal properly allowing fuel vapor to escape. Should this happen, the fuel tank pressure will be reduced, which will activate the leak detection system and alert the driver of a system's fault indicated by an instrument panel light. Fuel vapors in the immediate vicinity of an ignition source could result in a fire. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel filler neck/expansion tank assembly.
