For 2017 Audi's midsize A6 sedan gets a refreshed exterior and a revised interior with improved smartphone interface. The Audi A6 is a sports sedan that is predictable, precise and stable. It's also a compromise. But that's not a bad thing. In fact it can be very good. The handling isn't as sporty as the Cadillac CTS, but it's more luxurious. It's not as luxurious as the Mercedes E-class, but it out handles the E handily, with better steering and more involvement. The available 3.0L supercharged V6 is smoother and makes more torque than their sixes as well, helping it to move along more swiftly and excel at passing on the highway. The interior is simple, with exceptional fit and finish but little flash. Also new for 2017 is an even sportier 3.0T competition trim that gains more power, rear quattro sport differential, sport seats, and 20-inch wheels.
Base A6 is the 2.0T TFSI. That gets a 252 hp 2.0L direct injected turbocharged four, an eight-speed automatic, and quattro all-wheel drive. The bigger engine is a 3.0L supercharged V6 making 333 hp through the same transmission and all-wheel drive.
A6 is available in two trims, Progressiv and Technik. Progressiv starts with 18-inch wheels, stop-start, LED running lights with xenon headlights, sunroof, power trunk opening with motion opening, three-zone climate control, eight-way power adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel (leather on the seats and wheel), an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Audi multimedia interface, 10-speaker stereo, automatic wipers and headlights, front and rear parking sensors, and Audi drive select (adjustable steering assist and transmission programming). Technik adds 20-inch wheels, power close to the power open trunk, power folding mirrors, four-zone climate, ventilated front seats, a Bose 14-speaker stereo, and LED headlights. Sport exterior trim packages are available on both. On Technik, 14-way adjustable massage seats are available as is a driver assistant package with lane assist, cruise control, and collision detection. On The V6 Technik models, an all-white leather interior is available with upgraded leather and contrast stitching. The previously mentioned A6 3.0 competition takes the technik features and adds rear quattro sport differential, sport seats, and 20-inch wheels, along with a much sportier suspension. A Bang & Olufsen stereo is available as is night vision. The A6 2.0 is rated at 10.8 L/100 km city, 7.3 highway and the V6 models get 11.6/7.9.
