History/Overview
As its name suggests, the A5 Cabriolet is a convertible version of Audi’s compact coupe model.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
This is the fourth year for the second-generation A5, which was introduced in 2018. For 2021, the A5 gets Audi’s new 12-volt mild hybrid drive system. It also adds lane departure warning, wireless Apple CarPlay, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass and toll transponder to its list of standard features.
Available Trims
Audi offers the A5 Cabriolet in Progressiv and Technik trim levels. Both use the new mild hybrid system, which is built around a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Quattro AWD.

A stand-alone Comfort Seating Package adds ventilated sport seats with power lumbar and neck heating.
An Advanced Driver Assistance Package brings adaptive cruise control, traffic congestion assist, active lane assist, all-speed front collision detection and avoidance, traffic sign recognition, and hands-on detection.
Fuel Economy
As of this writing, Audi hadn’t published fuel consumption figures for the 2021 A5 Cabriolet, but they should be similar to the 2020 model’s estimates of 10.0/7.4 L/100 km (city/highway). We’ll update this article when Audi releases its 2021 ratings.
Competition
The Audi A5’s key competition is from convertible versions of the BMW 4 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
