For 2008, the Audi A3 receives minor trim changes, including a new S Line Titanium Package that adds 18-inch seven-double-spoken titanium-colour alloy wheels, performance tires, black front grille, piano black interior trim and black headliner.
The A3 hatchback is available as the 2.0T, with 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and six-speed manual transmission or optional "S tronic" six-speed automatic with manual shift mode, and as the 3.2 S Line, with 3.2-litre V6 and S tronic six-speed manual. The 2.0T is front-wheel drive, while the 3.2 S Line uses Quattro all-wheel drive.
Features on the 2.0T include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, halogen projector headlamps, seat-mounted head and thorax airbags, fog lamps, power windows, cruise control, automatic heated mirrors, keyless entry, leather seats with manual height adjustment, floor mats, first-aid kit, variable intermittent wipers and CD stereo.
The 3.2 S Line adds auto-dimming mirrors, 12-way power driver seat, brushed aluminum trim, leather-wrapped multifunction wheel and premium six-CD stereo with SIRIUS Satellite Radio.
The A3 is exceptionally well built and thoughtfully designed, and offers superior driving dynamics. The 2.0-litre is extremely quick, with virtually no turbo lag, while the V6 offers smooth and comfortable performance. The A3's major drawback is its price, which is relatively high for the segment; drivers may also find the climate control frustratingly complicated and non-intuitive.
