NEW FOR 2012:
- New exterior styling
- Six-speed automatic transmission replaces five-speed automatic
- Improved fuel economy
- New optional Elite Package
For 2012, the Acura TL undergoes a mid-cycle redesign, with redesigned bumpers, new grille, updated headlights and turn signals, new fog lights, shorter front overhang, repositioned license plate opening, thinner trunk edge trim and smaller rear reflectors. Interior changes include a revised instrument cluster, new surface finishes and improved cabin noise reduction.
A six-speed automatic transmission replaces the previous five-speed. Fuel economy improvements include internal friction reduction on the 3.5-litre V6, and on both engines, better underhood air cooling and improved aerodynamics. A new Elite Package, available only on the SH-AWD, adds 19-inch wheels, blind spot information system and ventilated front seats.
The TL is available with a 3.5-litre V6 in the front-wheel drive version, and a 3.7-litre V6 in the SH-AWD (Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive) version. Both use a six-speed automatic transmission. The SH-AWD Tech Package model can be optioned with a six-speed manual transmission.
Features on the TL include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, active front head restraints, LED taillights and brake lights, tire pressure monitoring system, acoustic windshield, front splash guards, fog lights, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals and tilt-down in reverse, xenon headlamps, power sunroof, floor mats, ten-way driver and eight-way passenger power-adjustable heated leather seats, driver’s side memory, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, exterior temperature gauge, Bluetooth connectivity, garage door opener, multi-information display, auto up/down front windows, locking rear-seat pass-through, speed-sensitive variable intermittent wipers, tilt and telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, trip computer, six-CD/MP3 stereo, and auxiliary and USB input.
The Technology package adds GPS-linked solar-sensing dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation system, rear-view camera, 15 GB hard disc drive storage, proximity key with push-button start, premium perforated leather upholstery and rear spoiler.
The SH-AWD builds on the TL and adds 18-inch alloy wheels, headlight washers, hill-start assist and sport steering wheel.
The SH-AWD Technology is similar to the TL Technology.
The Elite package adds 19-inch alloy wheels, blind spot information system and ventilated front seats.
