Acura’s smaller crossover, the RDX, was facelifted last year, and with updates such as jewel-eye LED headlights and an improved powertrain it was largely well-received. Changes on this value-packed entry-level luxury CUV are therefore minimal for the 2017 model year.
Starting at $42,190, the RDX is available at three trim levels, all of which come with the same powertrain: a 3.5-litre V6 (279 hp, 252 lb-ft of torque; 12.4/8.7 L/100 km city/hwy) paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. All trim levels include standard all-wheel drive.
A long list of features is standard on the base model, including those jewel-eye headlights plus 18” wheels, amplitude reactive dampers, eight-way power adjustable and heated front seats with a memory function for the driver, memory-linked side mirrors with reverse gear tilt-down, a power moonroof, and heat-deflecting green-tinted glass. Safety features include forward collision warning and collision mitigation braking, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, and tire pressure monitoring. Inside the cabin, a 5-inch colour screen is standard along with a multi-angle rear-view camera with guidelines, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free and text messaging functionality, a premium seven-speaker sound system, adaptive cruise control, and dual-zone climate control.
The Technology package upgrades to an 8-inch screen with navigation, a 10-speaker surround sound system with hard drive media storage, heated rear seats, power folding side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, remote start, plus blind spot information and cross-traffic monitoring systems. The dual-zone climate control system adds a GPS link and solar sensors.
With the Elite package, buyers also receive a unique wheel design, auto-dimming side mirrors, fog lights, front and rear parking sensors, and ventilated front seats.
