NEW FOR 2009:
- No changes
For 2009, the Acura MDX is carried over and is unchanged.
The seven-passenger MDX uses a 3.7-litre V6 with five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. It uses Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), which automatically transfers torque between the front and rear axles, and also between the left and right wheels for better cornering and traction.
The MDX comes in a single trim line, with available Technology or Elite packages.
Features on the MDX include 18-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone automatic climate control, second-row automatic climate control with separate controls, trailer connection pre-wiring, trailer stability assist, active front head restraints, tire pressure monitoring system, xenon headlamps with washers, fog lights, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals and reverse tip-down, power sunroof, variable intermittent wipers, intermittent rear wiper, compass, auto-dimming rearview mirror, cruise control, illuminated vanity mirrors, exterior temperature gauge, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, garage door opener, LED backlit gauges, leather-wrapped wheel with power tilt and telescopic column, front auto up/down windows, keyless entry, driver's side memory, six-CD/MP3/WMA stereo with auxiliary input and XM satellite radio, eight-way heated leather front seats, heated 60/40 split-folding second-row seat, and 50/50 flat-folding third-row bench seat.
The Technology Package adds navigation system with voice recognition, rearview camera, power liftgate, premium surround sound stereo, and perforated leather upholstery.
The Elite Package builds on the Technology Package and adds auto-levelling headlamps, 115-volt power outlet, and rear-seat DVD entertainment system.
More nimble than its size would suggest, the MDX offers powerful performance, comfortable interior and sharp handling, aided by its SH-AWD system. The two packages boost the price but add several features, including the backup camera that's useful on all SUVs. The third row is suitable mostly for children, but both rows fold flat to form a massive cargo area.
