CHANGES FOR 2013: - All new model. The new 2013 Acura ILX sedan is the brand’s latest entry in a segment it virtually created almost two decades ago with the 1997 EL. Like its predecessors, the ILX is heavily based on Honda Civic mechanicals. Four-cylinder engines range from a 150-hp 2.0L four to Acura’s first gasoline-electric hybrid. The 111-hp ILX Hybrid gets a CVT. But five- and six-speed manuals and a five-speed automatic are available on gas models. The littlest Acura can be had with such luxury goodies as heated leather seats, orchestra-worthy sound systems and navigation. Over the Civic, the Acura gets a quicker steering ratio and a stiffer steering rack. But even the sporty 201-hp ILX Dynamic doesn’t feel as sharp as the older CSX. The CSX is available with three different engine options: a mild 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, a mildly hot 2.4L DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, or a super-mild but green 1.5L SOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine with integrated electric motor. The 2.0L engine is available with a five-speed automatic transmission while the 2.4L gets a close-ratio six-speed manual. To maximize fuel economy, the hybrid gets a continuously variable transmission. The base ILX features include 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, five-speed automatic transmission, hill start assist, 16-inch alloy wheels, six-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio with USB port and auxiliary input, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, airbags (front, front seat, side curtain), vehicle immobilizer, body colour door handles and mirrors, heated power mirrors with expanded view driver's mirror, one-touch power moonroof with tilt, security system, auto-off headlights, map lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, air filtration, Bluetooth telephone connectivity, tilt/telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, leather-wrapped shift knob, maintenance minder system, 5-inch colour information display, power windows with driver and front passenger auto-up/down, keyless entry, push button start, SMS text function, driver's seat manual height adjustment, fold down rear seatback, fold-down rear seat centre armrest, floor mats, and premium cloth seating surfaces. Premium Package adds 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, HID headlights, auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlights, rearview camera, seven-speaker AM/FM/CD/XM audio with subwoofer, 8-way power driver seat, leather seating, and heated front seats.
